New MEI product is featured in mobile technology showcase designed for independent grocers
West Chester, PA April 23, 2010 — The Utopia “Across America Tour”, sponsored by Pan-Oston and the National Grocers Association (NGA), consist of two tour buses traveling across Americas showcasing Self Check-out technology. On Monday, April 26, 2010, buses outfitted with self check-out lanes featuring the MEI BNR departed on their journeys to visit independent grocers across the country. During the week of May 3rd, a tour bus will make several stops in the tri-state area including MEI headquarters in West Chester, PA.
“The Innovation Centers provide grocers a unique hands-on opportunity to experience first-hand the latest in front-end technology,” said Pan-Oston President Jim Vance. “These technology solutions not only enhance the customer experience, but can also positively impact businesses’ bottom lines.”
The tour buses are designed to bring the latest technology to the independent grocers, many of which would not have had access to this technology without the tour. The MEI BNR (Bank Note Recycler), a four- denomination recycler designed to provide all of the cash handling ability of a human cashier with increased security and cash management benefits, will be featured on the buses self check-out lanes. Also showcased will be the latest technology from Pan-Oston, Microsoft, Dell, CED and Rockwell Automation.
“When Pan-Oston shared its plans to do the tour, we knew this was a great way for MEI to get its products in front of independent grocers,” said Eric Fisher MEI vice president—Americas. “With the BNR start up float is reduced up to 90% and the quantity of notes handled is lowered as much as 50%, which helps the operations of the smaller independent grocers by dramatically reducing the on-hand cash required.”
